CDOT TETP Insights: 2023 RDG Chapter 17 - Construction Specifications
The 2023 CDOT Roadway Design Guide is a major revision to the existing 2018 Roadway Design Guide. It introduces new concepts to defining and implementing all modes of transportation, with guidance on how planners, engineers, and designers can exercise greater latitude when scoping and delivering projects throughout Colorado. To support the rollout and adoption of the new Roadway Design Guide, CDOT Design Area Engineer, Jerome Estes, has created a series of videos to provide Colorado practitioners with the latest guidance on multimodal design, context sensitive solutions, and performance-based practical design.

What a dreadful government run rabbit warren! You have to have a tedious instructional video on how to use the LIDAR MAP! .....TWO in fact since this runs on to a second video! It's a good thing you don't make it as easy as Ebay that a child can intuitively use! Or like New York or Pennsylvania or Denmark's lidar maps that you don't even need to DOWNLOAD a ZIP FILE!! Much less EMAIL Colorado ahead of time to get PERMISSION to download the thing!!! THOSE lidar maps you just GO TO, and zoom and scroll! DONE! What a concept!!
Build it now pls traffic is horrible here
After watching the five short videos in this series, I've notices quite a few video contradictions and direct safety violations that will easily offer a false impression to new and inexperienced flaggers. I understand that most of the scenes are staged, however appearances should have been considered while setting these scenes. I don't work in CO so some regulations might differ slightly from my state MUTCD.
Awesome video!
Thanks you. It was literally the clips giving me issues. Didn’t know they needed to be folded. Thanks!
What a waste of time money and recourses.
How do u work that out. It only took 4 guys to do this job.
spoken like a true construction worker. @@TassyDeval
Cool!
Hi bro! The one I got has an extra "accessory" piece of strap sewn onto the main part of the strap. What is that?
Studying to take the ACI test. Thank you for this!
Cleary im fucking retarded
Bring ear plugs for pounding the rod!
That’s my dad
How long does it last before you need to reapply? Does Mag chloride have an effect?
Adorei 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you
Thanks for the video. I also use a dummy Nuclear Density Gauge with my students only the menus are no longer functional once the gauge was deactivated. I'm wondering if you possibly use a dummy menu program that works with your deactivated gauge? I'm thinking of contacting Troxler to see if there is such a program available.

Are 3M earmuffs 30mm standard? Will they fit other brand’s helmet?
👍
Thank you,total perfect ~💯
Gracias por ayudarme a entender todas estas pruebas
I am currently studying to pass the In place density test. Your videos have been super helpful, thank you
Who tf is the bull dyke at the end? 😂
Thank you
Thanks this was helpful but why are you swallowing so often and so audibly like???
Please make this happen, driving through 34 is such a pain now because of all the people on the road all the time and the interchanges weren’t designed for the traffic we have now
Thanks for putting these videos together guys, see you Tuesday for the re-cert! -Lance
Thank you so much
Great demo, I like to wear mine right down to my instep, greeting from Ireland !!!
Thanks
Sr. Thanks 🤗🤗🤗 you make my day 🥰
A couple of observations: "If the moisture of the one point falls outside this zone, a second point with an adjusted moisture can be pounded, then plotted on the family. If the second point reveals a curve that will not match the trend of the curves in the family, then a full moisture density curve must be developed." This wording is much better (and less confusing) than what is given in the WAQTC manual, printed from the AASHTO procedure, so thanks for that! Second, in the video, when you went on to plot the successive one-points on the family of curves, it looks like the second one-point would produce a questionable/ill-defined curve, and therefore would require a full moisture-density curve, but you made it appear as if this would not be required. It would be helpful to clarify this in future videos, thanks!
The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) maintains an inventory of LiDAR data that is available statewide. In what ways has LiDAR data proven to be valuable in your project's planning, design, or delivery?
Advanced Geotechnical Methods of Exploration (A-GaME) is one of the initiatives for FHWA's Every Day Counts 5 (EDC-5). I'd like to hear what people are doing for EDC-5. Please post a comment about what your team is doing for the EDC-5 initiatives.
Remember folks, when you replace your hardhat, make sure to replace it with the specific hazard classification according to your job, & hazard level. Class A=TRAINING, CEREMONIAL, OR DEMONSTRATION: provides no protection. Class B= GENERAL PURPOSE: all sides, not top of head directional protection. Class C= CONSTRUCTION: Top of head, and all sides protection from falling object impacts. Class E= ELECTRICAL: same protection class as construction, but di-electric protection for construction linemen, and electricians. ☆Hard Hat Colors are determined by site management, or industry standards. ☆No one permitted on a construction site without a hard hat. ☆Protective footwear required by site management. Type and class to be determined by site management. ☆ CLASS K= WELDING ONLY: respiratory/eye, & possibly hearing protection if over 80 dBl. for a twa of 8 hrs. Protection is Required. Hi-viz vest not required if a statiinary post is designated. If not, and traveling within the site, Hi Viz is required. Fall protection is required for work accomplished 6' or higher off the floor. No unprotected ledges over 6' allowed without guarding. Floor holes, or openings shall be marked, and covered by a device capable of withstanding 4 times the weight of the heaviest object used on the floor. ☆HI-VIZ VEST/HARDHAT COMBO to be worn by all site workers, heavy equipment, & crane operators. ☆OSHA 29 CFR 1910 & 1920 standard requirements, all level for all site workers including guests, and engineers. ☆Eye protection required for protection from sparks, flying debris, excessive wind for dirt, or sand particulate matter. Be Safe, go home in as good, or better shape than you came to the job site.
No entiendo lo que habla pero segui como pude y lo logré 😂
I forgot why I stopped wearing my skullguard. I bought a new suspension for it, and I remembered why. Thanks for the video, I was getting seriously irritated with that thing.
I disarmed it and I couldn't harm it thanks
The method of calibration you’re using seems easier and more efficient will have to try that next time I’m in the lab
Thank you
Would have been a lot better without the masks. Could understand only a portion of Mr Anderson's replies.
That's what I said about 2020
Really appreciate u guys for making this video. Very helpful, and attention to detail. I’m a new hire for a geotechnical company, and this helped me get the concept down for my occupation. Thanks!!
It’d be nice if these many videos would actually show you how to assemble the suspension. Instead of showing it already built
Thnx
Basically just helping Denver get workers to the city in buses 20 to 35 miles away. No good!
Have difficulty hearing Mr. Anderson. Good information and hands on demonstration
Loving the vids. Keep up the good work! Btw, I think you should take a look at promosm. I’ve been using it to promote my main channel and it helped me get my videos higher in the search results.
Excellent video!
